In this context, the SUPA-GIZ project implemented a community service initiative aimed at supporting peatland ecosystem restoration through a participatory approach. The approach involved cross-stakeholder coordination, including local government authorities, farmer groups, and community organizations, to ensure the engagement of all relevant parties. The activities employed methods such as field surveys to identify critical canals contributing to degradation, awareness campaigns on the importance of peatland conservation, technical training on canal blocking, and the development of restoration intervention designs. The results of these activities demonstrated significant achievements, including the identification of ten critical canals requiring immediate attention, an increase in community understanding of the peatland ecosystem from 35% to 82%, and the establishment of Village Peatland Alert Teams. Changes in community behavior, such as implementing canal-blocking techniques and practicing more environmentally friendly land management, served as indicators of the intervention’s success. This participatory model demonstrated the effectiveness of combining local education with technical interventions to mitigate peat fire risks. The success of this approach presents opportunities for replicating community-based strategies in other peatland areas, offering a sustainable method for ecosystem restoration, fire risk reduction, and the enhancement of community capacity for collective environmental management.
2025-11-30T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Haga : Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakathttps://mail.jurnal.uniraya.ac.id/index.php/HAGA/article/view/3918THE ROLE OF SOFO-SOFO IN STRENGTHENING HEALTH AWARENESS AND LOCAL WISDOM IN NIAS2026-01-24T22:40:58+07:00Darmawan Harefadarmawan.harefa@student.undiksha.ac.id
This community service project, conducted in Bawonifaoso Village, Nias, aimed to explore and promote the role of Sofo-sofo (Ageratum conyzoides) in strengthening health awareness and preserving local wisdom. Traditional pig farming activities generate waste that is rich in nutrients such as nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K), but it is often underutilized, leading to environmental pollution. This study aims to design and test a method for producing LOF using pig manure as the primary material, involving both aerobic and anaerobic fermentation, the addition of decomposer microorganisms, and the formulation of solid sediments for stabilization. The fermentation process takes approximately 21–30 days. Evaluation parameters include pH, organic carbon (C) content, N, P, K levels, effective microbial population, and application effectiveness on vegetable crops in a field trial. The results showed that the LOF met quality standards—neutral pH (6.5–7), sufficient macronutrient content (N 1.2%, P 0.8%, K 1.5%), and a high population of active microbes. Application of LOF (5 mL/L once a week) to mustard greens and water spinach improved plant growth (height, leaf count) and productivity by approximately 20–30% compared to the control. The objectives of this study are to identify the potential of Hanjelin as a raw material for souvenir products, analyze relevant production and marketing processes, and evaluate the impact of developing Hanjelin-based souvenirs on the local economy and the sustainability of tourism at Baho Farm. The research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method, involving in-depth interviews with Baho Farm managers, local artisans, and visitors, as well as participatory observation. The findings of this study are expected to provide strategic recommendations for Baho Farm and related stakeholders in developing Hanjelin into competitive, innovative, and sustainable souvenir products, while simultaneously strengthening the local cultural identity of Nias through the creative economy.
2025-11-30T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Haga : Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat
